Hi, my name is Ellie Smullen. I am a first year student currently studying Pharmaceutical Science. I am 18 years old and from County Laois. I am running to be your next student senate for the Faculty of Life Sciences.
As a student who was thrown into college life in the midst of a pandemic with no proper introduction I believe that we don’t only need to focus on incoming 1st years but every class group, in every year, in every faculty.
Student life is chaotic enough as it is and my goal in the student senate is to decrease any fears or concerns had by any student in the faculty and the university alike.
How I hope to achieve this is by working closely with every Class Representative and promoting their issues to the Student Senate to be dealt with accordingly and as efficiently as possible.
My Experience:
- My passion for representing students started at a very early age. In 1st, 2nd and 3rd level education, I represented students on a student council and brought forward any concerns the student body had.
- I have worked closely with the Student Union and have worked voluntarily alongside them as they introduced a new Constitution and have contributed to campaigns for full-time sabbatical officers.
I surely believe as a well experienced, vocal and passionate student that I would be able to represent the Faculty of Life Sciences.
